Pharrell Williams has a lot of accomplishments under his belt- from his ventures in music to fashion, and now he’s added something else to the list, becoming the first man to star in a Chanel bag campaign.
He was announced as the first man to represent the company’s Gabrielle bag back in March and now, an short film starring the musician has been released. In the minute and half clip, Pharrell invokes his inner-kid backstage at a concert hall, eventually climbing onto a beam where he struggles to balance. When he hops down a little boy is there to clap for him, and flashes the name of the line of Chanel bags, Gabrielle, which is written on his palm before disappearing into thin air.
“It’s not very feminine in the sense of being chichi,” Karl Lagerfeld, Creative Director, told Women’s Wear Daily. He said he specifically wanted Pharrell to represent for the campaign to show buyers that it can be worn in “many different circumstances.”
Kristen Stewart, Cara Delevingne and French star Caroline de Maigret will also be starring in Chanel’s new campaign. Watch Pharrell in the ad below.
