Jamaican sprinter Nesta Carter, the sixth fastest man in history and 100m bronze medalist from the World Championships in 2013, has tested positive for performance enhancing drugs.
Of 265 samples, Carter has been named in reports as one of the 23 who retrospectively failed a drug test at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
According to reports, the 30-year old has tested positive for the banned stimulant methylexaneamine. Hopefully, he may escape a two-year suspension and instead get an 18-month punishment or simply a warning.
However, this could have major implications for the rest of the 4X100 team including Olympic superstar Usain Bolt, as they could be stripped of their 4x100m gold.
Carter ran the first leg as Jamaica’s 4x100m relay team ran a world record time of 37.10 seconds to win gold in Beijing, and has also won relay gold at the 2011, 2013 and 2015 World Championships.
